Jackets got a bit of a bum deal last night, Habs and Canes got to play against sub par goaltending with teams on back to backs while the Jackets faced Rask.

The Lightning backup had one hell of a game for them. He's not to blame for that loss.

Habs dominated and deserved that win.

I didn't see the MTL game but watched the CBJ game and Rask was not the difference in this game. He stood strong but the Jackets D provided a significant amount of breakaway/odd man rushes that Bob handled pretty well with little defense support.
Fact is that MTL won a game against a good/great team when they needed to win. Same with CAR.

Leafs never play a bad game as a team it’s either officiating or goaltending when they lose.

I think you win against new york, coming down to a big game on saturday against ottawa. Ottawa's been playing alright hockey this past little while, and they'll have something to play for, playing the spoiler for their former team mates. Should be a great game.

I would bet that Carolina wins their game thursday too.

There's really now way to know what would have happened if Vasilevsky was in net and I'm not letting the Jackets off the hook, I'm just saying it's a unfortunate luck for the Jackets that the two teams they were chasing were facing teams that weren't at their best, all on the same night.
It all balances out, and in the end whoever gets in will deserve it, but I'm sure Habs fans wouldn't be exactly happy if the Jackets faced Joel Daccord in the last game of the season vs the Sens with everything on the line.

Jackets played against the Nashville backup on Saturday. I dont believe they blow out Nashville if they start Rinne. Yes NSH was on a back to back BUT they are in a dog fight for the Central Division. Personally I would have started Rinne two nights in a row. The Jackets have no problem throwing Bob in for back to backs and he still puts up shutouts.

I didn't see the game, but as bad as the CBJ played, getting hammered 6-2 when everyone acknowledges the first 4 were not Bob's fault there are no excuses. It is the same song and dance they have been doing all year long, playing like a junior team at home, and playing well on the road.

In such an important game they stunk, while CAR and MTL rose their games up to win.

The worst thing about it is that the D-corps was supposed to be the strongest unit on the team, and they have been torched recently. Yes, there are injuries, and Murray being out is a big blow to the team, but even the top players are not playing well, either on defense or in the offensive zone.

At this point it does not matter, the team is what it is, and if they are lucky the Caps beat them in 5 or 6 games, and if they are unlucky Tampa beats them in 5 or 6, and if they fall apart a lot of moving companies will be pulling up to a lot of houses and apartments in Columbus in the next 3 to 4 months.

At least we do not have to watch or listen to the NHL draft...

I have a lot of crow to eat, because I thought the CBJ would not make it in. Even if they lose in 4 to TBL at least they got in.

But if you look back at the regular season, it is simply a bevy of missed opportunities: Two losses to the Ducks, Two losses to Edmonton, one loss to LA, one loss to Arizona, blown out three times by Tampa... there is no excuse here.

All they had to do is not totally screw up early the season and several times later, beat the worst teams in the league, and they are hosting in round 1, or at the least playing Washington.

In a season with so much hope, it quite clear the fans got disappointed, it's the players' fault, and sadly they will pay the price for it.

The fans will pay the price after the season, when at least three of our four best players disappear and we have lots of cap space we can't use to sign anyone important.

Is it really as bad as you've stated? Yes, there were some obscure losses, but every team has those in an 82 game season. Management did seem to mortgage the future on this season, but it doesn't mean none of those players are coming back. And it doesn't mean we can't enjoy watching them in the union blue for the next couple weeks (or month fingers crossed).
This CBJ team has the second most wins and points and the most goals for in franchise history. Cam tied Rick for most goals as a Jacket and Bread set a record for points.
This is the 3rd consecutive season they have been in the playoffs and 4th time in the last 6 seasons. While they don't have picks they do have a good bunch of prospects coming on.
UFAs are attracted to teams that make moves and can be expected in the playoffs...
